Michael Brunk began his coaching career in 2020 at Gilbert high school as the Varsity defensive line coach. In 2020, Brunk was part of the staff that the Gilbert high school defense set the school record for sacks in a season.
Coach Brunk re-joined the Carroll Football staff in the summer of 2023, bringing with him experience at the NCAA FBS level.
This is his second stint with the Saints, having also served on the staff in 2021 as a defensive assistant.
In 2022, Brunk was hired to be a Defensive Quality Control assistant at Eastern Michigan University, where he helped lead the Eagles to a 9-4 overall record, and a win over San Jose State in the Famous Idaho Potatoes Bowl. He helped coach Jose Ramirez: 6th round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Since returning to Carroll Brunk has served as the Linebackers coach (2023) and Defensive Line coach (2024). In his two years back, Brunk has coached 1 All-Conference Linebacker, 3 All-Conference Defensive lineman, and 1 All-American Defensive Lineman as well as the Conference player of the year.
A native of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Brunk played both Football and Lacrosse at SUNY Maritime.
