Prior to Carroll - Hays was a team captain, three-year varsity letter winner, and an all-conference selection at running back for Kennewick. He was a three-year varsity letter winner in track & field. Off the field, Hays was a member of the honor roll. Canaan is the son of Abby and Jordan Hays and has one sister (Kamille). He plans to pursue a degree in education.
