HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Women's Soccer team and Evergreen State battled to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Nelson Stadium, with the Fighting Saints unable to solve Evergreen goalkeeper Melina Grijalva despite a lopsided edge in chances.
Carroll (2-2-4, 1-0-2) out-shot Evergreen (0-4-2, 0-3-1) 19-3 and won 14 corner kicks to just one, but Grijalva turned aside all five shots on target, including three saves in the first half and two more in the second to preserve the shutout.
Carroll's best looks came from Carmen Anderson (Missoula, Mont. / JR) and Delaney Moczan (Las Vegas, Nev. / R-JR), who each managed four shots, but no Saints could kind a way to put one home.
Goalkeeper Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SR) needed just one save to keep her own clean sheet, but the Saints would be forced to split the points with the Geoducks.
The Saints will turn their full attention towards their first road conference swing of the season, as they make the long trek to Southern Oregon next weekend for a pair against SOU and Oregon Tech.
