HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will play their long-awaited home-opener this weekend, as they host Dickinson State in the first Frontier Conference series inside Nelson Stadium this weekend. The series will span Friday and Saturday, with 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. start times on Friday, and a 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.

After a 337 day wait, the Fighting Saints (6-8, 1-3) are finally back on their home turf, looking to make an early climb in the Frontier standings. They'll have their chance to get back to .500 in conference play this weekend, hosting the Blue Hawks (14-10, 2-2) for the first time in program history.

Carroll got off to a bit of a rocky start in league play last weekend, dropping the first three games of their conference-opening series at Bismarck State before exploding for 10 runs in a finale win. The Saints put up five or more runs in three of the four games of the series, but run prevention was the achilles heel. Finding a way to slow down a Blue Hawk side that has put up six or more runs in 12 different games this season will be key to getting back into the Frontier mix.

Dickinson State hosted Providence on Frontier opening weekend, splitting the four game series 2-2. The Blue Hawks put up six and 11 runs in their two wins, while combining for just three runs in their two losses to the Argos.

Offensively, Carroll is led by an outstanding start from transfer Brooke Thompson (Billings, Mont. / JR). Thompson has done a little of everything for the Saints, and leads the team in batting average (.422), OPS (1.140), hits (19), home runs (3), and RBI (13).
