MAYVILLE, N.D. - The No. 25-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team left no doubt on Saturday evening, bouncing back from an overtime loss last night with an 87-33 win over Mayville Sate at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
It was all smiles for the Fighting Saints (19-9, 17-5) on Saturday, as all 11 players on the bench put their name in the score sheet in a 54-point rout of the Comets.
WIlla Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-SR) helped lead the charge for the Carroll starters in the big win, knocking down four of her five attempts in the first quarter for 11 points, whileÂ
Kennedi Niemann (Cody, Wyo. / R-SO) and
Kenzie Allen (Grantsville, Utah / JR) added five apiece to put the Saints up 23-12 after one.
While the offensive output slowed a bit in the second, the defense ramped up as Carroll held Mayville State to just four points in the frame, one from the floor and a pair of free throws.
Halle Fitzgerald (Dillon, Mont. / R-FR) scored five points off the bench and the Saints extended their lead to 40-16 at the break.
Shots were falling left and right for the Saints in the third quarter, as they went 9-14 from the field and 11-12 at the free throw line. Albrecht added seven points to her total,
Jillian Kanduch (Miles City, Mont. / FR) scored six, and Carroll stretched their lead out once more.
Gracie Millimen (Manhattan, Mont. / R-FR) had a strong showing in the fourth, leading all players with six points, while
Ellie Denny (Fairfield, Wash. / R-JR) scored her first points of the year in her first appearance of the season coming off an off-season injury, a three that pushed Carroll to a new season-high in points,
Albrecht led all players with 18 points in the blowout victory, while Millimen recorded career-highs in both points (12) and rebounds (8).
The Saints will now turn their attention towards the Frontier Conference Tournament next weekend in Butte, where they will have the four-seed following a tie-break scenario with Rocky Mountain College.
