HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Softball team will kick-off their 2026 campaign with a pair of non-conference doubleheaders against (RV) College of Idaho and No. 3 Eastern Oregon at Symms Field in Caldwell, Idaho on Friday and Saturday.
The 2026 season is a fresh start for the Fighting Saints ('24: 18-26, 12-15), as they transition to the Frontier Conference following an 11-year run in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Ironically, they'll begin the new slate with a pair of former conference foes, College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon, this weekend.
While the Saints return a pair of All-Conference performers, the 2026 roster features a slew of new faces, looking to help Carroll capture the inaugural Frontier Championship.
Two-time All-CCC pitcher
Kennedy Venner (Billings, Mont. / SR) will get the nod in the circle to open the year. The senior has been one of the best players in program history for her first three seasons. Last year, she appeared in 25 games, starting 23 with 12 wins on the year. Over 148 innings, she punched out 134 batters, finishing with an ERA of 4.49 and an opponent batting average of .284.
First Baseman Sammie Laburm (Kalispell, Mont. / SR) was one of three Saints to hit .300 or better in 2025, and will look to earn her second All-Conference honor in '26. Labrum started in 41 games for Carroll last year, hitting .318 and leading the team with 41 hits.
Carroll has 12 new additions to the roster, featuring a good mix of freshmen and transfers, all looking to make an impact in the program's 12th season. Three transfers,
Brooke Thompson (Billings, Mont. / JR),
Kyla Cross (Bonney Lake, Wash. / JR), and
Madison Walker (Ridgefield, Wash. / JR) could be in the starting nine on opening day, filling holes left by departed seniors from a season ago.
The '26 campaign will begin with a doubleheader against host-school College of Idaho at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday. The Saints and Yotes split their season series in '25, with Carroll taking two of the three conference games, both in dramatic fashion in the home openers.
On Saturday, the Saints will square-off with the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon, last year's CCC Tournament Champion, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
