HELENA, Mont. - A strong fourth quarter performance lifted the No. 25-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team to a 71-61 win over (RV) MSU-Northern on Saturday evening at the PE Center.
The Fighting Saints (18-8, 16-4) sent their four seniors off on a high-note, claiming a 10-point win over the Skylights, pushing their longest active win-streak over any opponent to 21-straight dating back to 2020.
Kennedi Niemann (Cody, Wyo. / R-SO) gave Carroll a three-point lead at the four-minute mark of the opening frame with a knock down triple. The three-point advantage was as large as it would get for either side in a back-and-forth first, with both teams exchanging the lead several times. A late-frame basket by Becky Melcher gave Northern a lead at the break, 19-18.
Both teams stood their ground defensively in the second, with a total of only 24 shots attempted in the frame. WIlla Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-SR) scored five points to lead the Saints, but 10 points from Lauren Gunn on the other end of the court would help extend the Skylights lead at the half to four.
Albrehct scored six more points in the third quarter, and the Carroll defense tightened their grip once more. The Saints held the Skylights to just 4-12 shooting in the third and forced five turnovers, limiting MSU-N to just nine points.
Avery Kraft (Helena, Mont. / R-FR) buried a corner three at the buzzer to give Carroll a two-point lead heading into the final quarter, 46-44.
An offensive explosion was in store for the Saints over the final ten minutes. Carroll shot 71 percent from the floor (10-14), in a 25-point outburst that sealed the come from behind win. Kraft, Niemann, and Albrecht combined for 17 points in the frame, matching Northern's team effort.
Albrecht was outstanding in the win, leading all players with a game-high 21 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
Kenzie Allen (Grantsville, Utah / JR) added 12 points, four boards, and four assists. Kraft and Niemann provided a spark off the bench, finishing with nine and eight points, respectively, and
Meagan Karstetter (Moses Lake, Wash. / SR) finished with eight points and three rebounds.
The Saints will finish-off their 2025-26 regular season next weekend, making one final road trip for a pair of games at Valley City State and Mayville State on Friday and Saturday.
