PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, the Carroll Men's Soccer team got back on track with a 1-0 shutout win over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Sunday night to close out their weekend swing in the desert.

In 2024, the FIghting Saints (2-1-1) posted 14 shutouts in what was a historic championship campaign. So far in 2025, the recipe for success seems to be the same, as their 1-0 win over the Eagles (1-2-1) was the third game of the young season in which they didn't allow a goal.

Both teams went scoreless in a quiet opening half that saw seven total shots between the pair. Coming out of the break, however, Carroll turned up the intensity in a big way.

The second half featured heavy pressure from the Carroll side, as the Saints registered 18 shots in the half, their most in a single half under Head Coach Austin Shick's three years at the helm. While ERAU put up eight shots, five of which were on goal.

The continued pressure in the second half would eventually pay dividends, as Nils Benning (Kiel, Germany / JR) broke the scoreless tie with a 79' minute goal. It was a German connection for Benning's first goal as a Saint, coming off an assist from Elias Schledowez (Lorrach, Germany / FR).

Carroll held off a late push from the Eagles over the final 10 minutes, securing the win to salvage a weekend split.

Juan Muniz Navarrete (Hermiston, Ore. / GR) was as good as ever in the net, finishing with a season-high four saves to add to his program record for clean sheets.

The Saints will return to Helena tomorrow, then turn around for one more weekend of non-conference action in Washington against Whitworth next Saturday before opening their CCC slate later this month.
