HELENA, Mont. - Less than 24 hours after their last game, the Carroll Volleyball team picked up bounce back four set victory over MSU-Northern on Saturday afternoon at the Carroll College PE Center.

Following a pair of losses to the Skylights (3-5, 1-1) to close the 2024 season, the Fighting Saints (7-4, 2-1) got things going in the right direction in their third game in the last four days.

Carroll came out of the gates strong, controlling the early stages of the match with several kills from Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / R-SR) and McKaila Balcom (Pasco, Wash. / JR) leading to a 14-7 lead early. Taysa Conger (Merino, Colo. / SR) took control at the end of the frame, adding four kills to help close out the first set win, 25-15.

Northern responded in the second set, as Carroll had their worst hitting frame of the evening (.030). Macee Selman led the Skylights in kills in a 25-16 set win to even the match at 1-1.

In the third set, Carroll found themselves with a 21-14 advantage before the Skylights would make a late push. Liz Heuiser, Rachael Stacey (Helena, Mont. / SR), and Lauren Fox (Bozeman, Mont. / FR) came up with some clutch kills down the stretch, however, and the Saints would hold on for a 25-21 win.

Trailing 16-14 in the fourth frame, Carroll went on to close out the match in impressive fashion. Lauren Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / JR) went off, accounting for six of the final 11 points. Heuiser's big finish was comprised of three kills and three aces, including a game-winning ace to close out the four set victory for the Saints.

With the slew of late aces, Lauren Heuiser compiled quite the stat line. The junior posted team highs in both kills (11) and aces (11.0). Liz Heuiser and Taysa Conger added 10 kills each.

Jansyn Carrizales (Sunnyside, Wash. / JR) had a game high 22 assists, while Lauren Fox was hot on her heels with 21.

After the marathon opening week of Frontier play, Carroll will have a slight break in the action before heading to Madison, S.D. for a showdown with fellow receiving votes team, Dakota State.
