No. 25 Saints Take on No. 11 DSU for First Time Since '13

09/20/25 | 9:37 AM

HELENA, Mont. - The No. 25-ranked Carroll College Football team is back in action following a week three bye, as they take on the No. 11-ranked Dickinson State Blue Hawks at 1 p.m. at the Beisiot Activities Center in Dickinson, N.D.

With two full weeks to prepare, the Fighting Saints (1-1) will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, sqauring off with a former Frontier Conference foe in their third crossover contest of the season.

Saturday's meeting between the Saints and Blue Hawks will mark the 23rd meeting in the all-time series, which dates back to 1968. The Saints have enjoyed most of the success in the series, having won 18 of the 22 all-time meetings, including 15-straight since 1990. Dickinson State's last win came in the 1989 NAIA playoffs, a narrow one-point victory in the quarterfinals.

Carroll came away with a dominant 48-3 win in Dickinson the last time the schools met in 2013. That game marked the end of the Blue Hawks' short initial stint as a member of the Frontier Conference, as they would transition to the North Star the following season.

Saturday's game will be the second straight week in which the Fighting Saints take on the No. 11-ranked team in the country, and Carroll will look for an early season signature win to help bolster their position in the NAIA's Top-25. The Saints have held the final spot in the poll, No. 25, through the first two rankings, and hope a win in Dickinson can help kick-start an ascension of the poll as conference play nears.

For the first time in 372 days, the Saints have their top two options at the running back position healthy, and listed on the two-deep. Xzavier Ford (Glendora, Calif. / SR) will see his first action since suffering a season-ending injury in the second game of the 2024 season, joining Peter Minneart (Boise, Idaho / SO) in a return to the lineup after his season-ending injury last October.

The pair will look to help add some explosiveness to a Carroll rushing attack that enters the week averaging only 105.0 yards per game. Entering week four, QB Kaden Huot (Helena, Mont. / JR) is the team's leading rusher, averaging 42.5 ypg.

Slowing down one of the league's top receivers will be a primary focus for the Carroll defense. Dickinson's Semaj Clark enters the week at No. 11 in the NAIA in receiving yards per game (109.5 ypg), with 219 yards and three TD receptions on the season.

Saturday's game will also be the second-straight NAIA featured game of the week, as one of just three ranked matchups across the national slate.
