HELENA, Mont. - The Annual Hoops for a Cause tournament and fundraiser, a collective effort by the Frontier Conference Basketball teams and coaches, will return to Helena this weekend, benefitting Carroll Guard
Cam Niles and his battle with Lymphoma. The annual three-on-three tournament will take place at the Carroll College PE Center on Sunday, August 3.
Cam Niles (Fair Oaks, Calif. / JR) is this year's Frontier Conference Hoops for a Cause recipient.
In his initial weeks at Carroll College, Cam began suffering from severe fever and was eventually admitted to the hospital for nearly three weeks. He returned home to California and began receiving treatment for HLH. He began chemotherapy treatment and was later diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
During his treatment, Cam lost 70 pounds and underwent six rounds of treatment. In early March, Niles rung the bell - signifying the completion of his treatment with a cancer-free diagnosis.
Niles, now cancer-free, intends on returning to Carroll -
and the court - this Fall, and will be in attendance this weekend thanks to the Hoops for a Cause foundation and their efforts.
All funds generated from the Frontier Conference Hoops for a Cause event will go to helping offset the growing costs associated with his treatment. In addition to the Hoops for a Cause tournament and fundraiser, a GoFundMe account has been set up for him where direct donations can be made HERE.
Alongside the weekend tournament, supporters are encouraged to visit the "Frontier Conference Hoops for a Cause" page on Facebook, where various items ranging from memorabilia, equipment, and experiences are up for silent auction, all in support of Niles.
While tournament space is limited, there is space for a team in both the Boys & Girls 3rd & 4th grade divisions, 5th & 6th grade boys division, as well as a Girls 9th & 10th grade team.
