Carroll Women Ready for Pair of Battles on the Beach

12/17/25 | 7:48 AM

HELENA, Mont. - The No. 16-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team will put a bow on the 2025 calendar year this week as they play a pair of games in the Sunshine state as part of the Daytona Beach Classic, kicking off with Rochester Christian (Mich.) today at 11 a.m. and followed by a 1 p.m. matchup with William Carey (Miss.) on Thursday at the Ocean Center.

The Fighting Saints (7-4, 5-2), coming off a pair of 70-point performances last weekend, will look to finish the year strong as they round out the non-conference portion of their schedule against the Warriors and Crusaders.

The 2025 Daytona Beach Classic features a six-team field of NAIA schools from around the country, all playing a pair of games at the World Famous Daytona Beach over the course of the week. Located just steps away from the Atlantic, the 8,000-seat Ocean Center will see the Saints take on Rocher Christian for just the second time, and William Carey for the first time in program history.

It's been two seasons since the Saints and Warriors last met - an NAIA Women's Basketball Championship First Round matchup at the PE Center that kick-started a Carroll run to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa. Three members of the current squad were on that team - Meagan Karstetter (Moses Lake, Wash. / SR), Ava Oakland (Boise, Idaho / SR), and Isabelle Erickson (Broadview, Mont. / R-SR), while only one player remains from the RCU side.

Thursday's opponent, William Carey, has qualified for the NAIA Women's Basketball Championship in each of the last two seasons, and are well on their way to making it a third-straight trip this spring as they're off to a 10-0 start to the year.

There's one common denominator in all of Carroll's seven wins on the season, and it's the number 40. The Saints have shot at least 40 percent from the floor in all of their wins, and will look to continue the trend in Florida.

Getting things going from beyond the arc will be a key for the 16th-ranked Saints. Entering the week, the team has its lowest three point percentage in a decade, shooting just 28 percent from range. Finding a way to knock down open looks outside will be a priority for the team in the non-conference pair.
