HELENA, Mont. - Both Carroll Basketball teams will host their first Frontier Conference games of the season at the CC PE Center this weekend, as Bismarck State and Dickinson State come to town for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, with Women tipping at 5 p.m. and the Men following at 7 p.m. both nights.
Finals week Frontier home games are nothing new for the Fighting Saints, however, being in week three of league play at this point in the season is. Following a trio of road trips to begin the conference slate, Carroll finally gets to play in front of the hometown crowd.
The new 12-team Frontier schedule includes a home-and-home for every school in the league. This weekend will mark the final two games of the season series with both the Blue Hawks and and Mystics, as the Saints have already made the trek to North Dakota last month. It was a successful venture for both the Men and the Women, as the pair swept the weekend on the road, and will look to take the full series tonight at the PE Center.
The No. 16-ranked Carroll Women enter the week at 3-2 in Frontier play, with both losses coming on the road at ranked opponents in Rocky and Montana Tech.
Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-SR) has been outstanding through the early portion of the season, leading the Saints in points per game (16.3), rebounds per game (6.7), assists (16) and steals (21).
Jillian Kanduch (Miles City, Mont. / FR) has emerged as a top option for Carroll as well, leading the team in field goal percentage (44.1 percent) while averaging 8.2 points per game. Against Montana Western last week,
Kenzie Allen (Grantsville, Utah / JR) had a breakthrough performance, leading all players with 21 points in the tight win.
The Carroll Men enter the week on one of their best starts to conference play in program history. Following a pair of ranked wins last weekend on the road at No. 23 Montana Western and No. 4 Montana Tech, the Saints remain unbeaten in Frontier play with a perfect 5-0 record. They'll have the opportunity to do something no other Carroll MBB team has done this weekend, as a pair of wins would give them the first 7-0 conference start in recorded history.
After a 24-point blowout over the Bulldogs on Friday, the Saints went into Butte and emerged victorious for the first time since 2018.
Drew Jones (Puyallup, Wash. / FR) capped a 21-point performance with a last second bucket to give the Saints their second-straight win over the Orediggers.
Carroll swept the Frontier Conference weekly honors, with
Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-SO) earning his first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season, and
Kellen Harrison (Bozeman, Mont. / SO) grabbing his third Frontier Defensive Player of the Week honor this year.
Tip-off for the Women is slated for 5 p.m. both nights, with the Men following at 7 p.m.
