HELENA, Mont. - At the midway point of November, the 2025 Frontier Conference season comes to a close on Saturday, as the No. 14-ranked Carroll Football team hosts Eastern Oregon at 12 p.m. on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium, looking to make their case for the NAIA Football Championship Series.
The Fighing Saints (7-2, 4-1) enter the week coming off a 36-13 loss to now-ranked No. 13 College of Idaho last weekend in Helena, and are looking to respond with a home finale win over the Mountaineers (4-5, 3-2).
Carroll's second loss of the year came with a fall in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, as the Saints slid six spots to No. 14. While the Saints can no longer win an outright Frontier - West title, there is still potential for a shared title this weekend. A Carroll win over the Mounties this weekend in Helena, paired with a Southern Oregon win over College of Idaho would give the Saints and Yotes identical 5-1 conference marks and a share of the conference crown.Â
The Saints are still firmly in the hunt for an at-large selection to the NAIA Football Championship Series, which starts next weekend. Entering the final week of the season, Carroll is No. 4 in the West ARC, No. 18 in the NAIA Football Performance Index (FPI), and No. 15 in the Massey Ratings. A combination of all three metrics will be used by the selection committee to determine the seven at-large spots in the postseason field.
Saturday's game marks the 39th all-time meeting between the Fighting Saints and Mountaineers dating back to the 1952 season. In 2008, the Mounties joined the Frontier Conference as an associate member. Since their arrival in '08, Carroll owns a 14-9 advantage in the series, and are 5-0 in the last five meetings.
The 2025 home finale marks the final regular season game inside Nelson Stadium for 24 Carroll College seniors. That group will be honored for their dedication, sacrifice, and successes prior to kick-off as part of Senior Day festivities.
Kick-off for today's game is set for 12 p.m. A live stream is available online free of charge HERE, and a tape delay broadcast will run on SWX stations throughout Montana later this evening - check your local listings for times.
