Carroll Basketball Teams Begin Frontier Slate at Rocky

11/14/25 | 10:54 AM

HELENA, Mont. - With the addition of six new member institutions this summer, the Frontier Conference regular season expanded to 22 games - the first of which takes place tonight for the Carroll College Basketball teams as they travel to Rocky Mountain College for a Friday night conference doubleheader at 5 p.m and 7 p.m.

It's hard to believe it, but the 2025-26 Frontier Basketball season is upon us. For the Fighting Saints, both the Men and Women entered the season picked second in their respective preseason polls, and both will look to make a statement on opening night.

The Carroll Women (1-1) have had a busy start to the year, with four games under their belt already over a seven-day span. The early season sprint started with a tough three-point loss at NCAA Division II MSU Billings, followed by a pair of exhibitions against NCAA Division I opponents Gonzaga and Montana State.

Last Thursday, the Saints played their first NAIA opponent of the season, rolling to a 79-58 win over (RV) Wayland Baptist in their home opener - avenging a loss in the NAIA WBB Championship Opening Round last season.

Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-SR) was simply outstanding in the win, as her 28-point, 17-rebound double-double garnered her both Frontier Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The 1-1 start for the Saints saw them move up a pair of positions in the NAIA WBB Coaches' Poll, now sitting at No. 14.

On the other side of the court, the Saints will square up with the reigning Frontier Conference Champions, as the Battlin' Bears (1-0) enter the week at No. 17 in the country.

Rocky has only one official game played on the season, having toppled Bushnell in Billings two weeks ago.

The Carroll Men enter the week at 1-1, having notched a win over St. Thomas (Fla.) in their season-opener before falling to then-ranked No. 1 College of Idaho.

Rocky, along with Montana Western, picked up a win over the former No. 1-ranked Yotes since the CI-CC meeting took place in Helena two weeks ago.

The Bears appeared in the receiving votes portion of the NAIA MBB Coaches' Poll this week for the first time this season.

Carroll has had Rocky's number the last two seasons, having won all six meetings between the two schools.

Tip-off for the Women's game is set for 5 p.m., with the Men's game to follow around 7 p.m.
