Box Score HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Men's Basketball team dropped their first game of the 2025-26 season, falling 92-63 against the NAIA's Preseason No. 1 College of Idaho on Saturday evening at the Carroll College PE Center.
After enjoying one of the most efficient offensive performances in recent history in their season-opener last weekend, the Fighting Saints (1-1) could not get anything going for them in the loss to the Yotes.
Last year's National Champion got things rolling early and never looked back. The Yotes raced out to a 27-6 advantage over the first ten minutes of the game - knocking down shot-after-shot and stiflling the Carroll offense with a zone look that provided few clean opportunities.
The Saints finally found their footing midway through the opener, narrowing the 21-point lead down to 15 at the break following a buzzer-beating three from
Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-SO), who scored 16 of Carroll's 33 points in the frame.
Coming out of the halftime break, Carroll put together a mini-run that cut the lead to 10 points for the first time since first five minutes of the game - but they would be unable to sustain the momentum.
C of I utilized a 54 percent effort from the floor, and doubled up the Saints in second half rebounds (24-12) as they rolled to the 92-63 win.
Rebounds were one of the bigger issues for the Saints throughout the night, as a lengthy Yotes side pulled down 46 boards to Carroll's 25.
Carroll had a pair of 20-point performers, as Crane finished with 21 points, while
Kellen Harrison (Bozeman, Mont. / SO) put up 20 points on a 70 percent night from the floor (7-10).
The Saints will have one more non-conference game next weekend - taking on Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, ahead of their first Frontier Conference game of the year at Rocky in two weeks.
