Carroll Soccer Teams Host for Second-Straight Weekend

10/09/25 | 10:57 AM

HELENA, Mont. - After two months on the road, the Carroll Soccer teams will host their second-straight weekend of home games on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium. Thursday evening the Saints will play Eastern Oregon, with the Women starting at 5 p.m. and the Men at 7:30, followed by a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against College of Idaho with the Women at 12 p.m. and the Men at 2:30.

Dealing with a growing number of injuries, the Carroll Women (3-2-4, 1-2-2) have had a rocky start to the 2025 Cascade Collegiate Conference season.

Entering Thursday's contest, the Fighting Saints are currently on the outside-looking-in at the 2025 Conference Championship field. The top eight teams in the league's final standings will qualify for postseason play, and Carroll currently sits at No. 9 in the table.

Things don't get any easier for the Saints this weekend, as Eastern Oregon is No. 3 in the standings with a 4-1 conference mark, while the NAIA's No. 5-ranked College of Idaho Yotes have the league's only unbeaten 5-0 record.

The Saints will have the services of two-time All-CCC goalkeeper Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / JR) back in the net after having to sit out the Southern Oregon game for a red card last Thursday. The keeper's card, while unfortunate, did keep a goal off the board and helped Carroll secure an important draw with Oregon Tech to keep within striking distance in the standings.

Finding a way to get the ball in the net will be of the utmost importance for the Saints this weekend, as Carroll has only scored once in its last three games.

On the Men's side of the action, the 2024 CCC Champions enter what may be their most important weekend of the season.

Thursday night will be a rematch of last year's CCC Tournament Championship match, as Carroll looks to avenge a loss to Eastern Oregon this season.

The Mountaineers are right behind the Saints in the standings, holding a 4-0-1 record in league play, while the Saints remain the CCC's only unbeaten, untied team at the midway point of the regular season.

While the league has teams capable of winning each and every week, finding a way to topple EOU and C of I this weekend in Helena and create some breathing room at the top of the table could prove highly-beneficial for the Saints in their quest for a second-straight league title.

The Saints remain one of just two CCC teams appearing in the receiving votes portion of the NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll, alongside Southern Oregon.

Carroll will have both the reigning CCC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on the pitch for the monumental matchup on Thursday. Pedro Rivera (Mexico City, Mexico / FR) earned Defensive POTW honors after anchoring a tremendous effort on the back line and scoring his first collegiate goal, and Sam Loughton (East Yorkshire, England / JR) was named Offensive Player of the Week following a two-goal weekend that saw him move into the team-lead for goals on the season (5).

All four games will be streamed live free of charge on UEN, and live stats can be followed for each matchup.
