CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) has announced its weekly McDonald's Player of the Week honors, presented by Urban Edge Network, recognizing student-athletes for their performances during competition from September 29 – October 5, 2025. The Carroll College Men's Soccer tandem of Pedro Rivera and Sam Loughton were named the league's Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.
It was a big week for the Fighting Saints (7-1-1, 5-0), who finally had the opportunity to play on their home pitch. Carroll earned a pair of victories over Oregon Tech and (RV) Southern Oregon to remain the lone unbeaten, untied team in the CCC, and two players earned weekly honors for their contributions.
Men's Soccer – Defensive Player
(RV) Carroll College's Pedro Rivera was named the CCC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Rivera, a freshman defender from Mexico City, Mexico, helped keep the Fighting Saints undefeated in conference play. He anchored the backline, contributing to the 2-0 shutout over Oregon Tech and the 3-1 win over (RV) Southern Oregon University, limiting the Raiders to just six shots on goal. The freshman also recorded his first collegiate goal against SOU.
Men's Soccer – Offensive Player
(RV) Carroll College's Sam Loughton was named the CCC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Russell, a junior centerback from East Yorkshire, England, helped keep the Fighting Saints undefeated in conference play. He ended the week with a goal in each match and four points on an impressive .800 shot on goal percentage. The captain scored the game-winner against Southern Oregon, and now leads the Saints in goals scored for the season.
This is the first player of the week honor for both Rivera and Loughton.
Carroll will be back in action on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium this week, hosting another pair of important midseason games against Eastern Oregon (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.) and College of Idaho (Saturday, 2:30 p.m.)
