HELENA, Mont. - Senior Day was a joyous one for the Carroll Men's Soccer team, as they cruised to a 4-0 shutout victory over Walla Walla on Sunday afternoon on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium in their home finale.
No strangers to close wins - with four wins coming by just one goal on the season, the Fighting Saints (10-2-2, 8-1-1) had a much easier road to victory over the Wolves, exploding for three goals in the final 20 minutes.
Both of Carroll's top goal-scorers on the season found the back of the net in the win.
Alfie Snow (Middlesbrough, England / SR) set the tone early, netting his sixth of the year off an assist from Pedro Tiexiera (Braga, Portugal / R-JR) in just the fifth minute.
Felix Billard (Mallorca, Spain / doubled the Carroll lead in the 70th minute, scoring a breakaway goal off a beautiful long pass in from
Justus Herrmann (Weil am Rhein, Germany / SO) - keeping pace with Snow for his sixth goal of the year.
For the second time in as many games,
Enrico Paparelli (Sao Paulo, Brazil / R-SO) put one away. The Brazilian danced around several defenders on the left side of the box, then snuck one past the Walla Walla keeper for his second of the year in the 73rd minute.
With just under two minutes remaining,
Cyrille Wangama (Spokane, Wash. / FR) netted his second career goal, putting an exclamation point on the win.
In total, Carroll outshot the Wolves 27-5 on the day, with keeper
Juan Muniz Navarrete (Hermiston, Ore. / GR) coming away with a trio of saves on the three WWU shots on goal.
With just two games remaining on the schedule, the Saints sit just one point back of CCC-leading Eastern Oregon. They'll end the season with a pair of games against Bushnell and Corban next weekend, as they continue the chase for their second-straight league crown.
