Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

(RV) Carroll Men Blank Argos

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team got back in the win column with a 1-0 shutout over Providence on Thursday afternoon at Argos Field.

After a disappointing two efforts last week, the (RV) Fighting Saints (8-2-2, 6-1-1) bounced back with a 1-0 win over the Argos (3-8-2, 3-5-1), their sixth straight win in the last four years.

Head Coach Austin Shick made the decision to trot out a new keeper against Providence, giving Capital City product Dane Quinn (Helena, Mont. / R-FR) his first start in a pivotal late season road contest.

The decision was inconsequential, as the Fighting Saints dominated possession in a 1-0 blanking of their in-state rivals one hour up the road. Quinn was relied upon very little in the match, as Carroll was in full control, with the majority of play taking place in the Providence third of the pitch.

Felix Billard (Mallorca, Spain / JR), who led the Cascade in goals scored a season ago, gave Carroll all the offense they would need midway through the opening half. The Spaniard netted a penalty kick goal in the 24th minute, his fifth of the season and second PK in the last three games to put the Saints in front for good following an Argo foul in the box.

From that point forward, the Saints held Providence to just a pair of shots in the one-sided affair, playing soundly to get back to their winning ways in comfortable fashion.

A full week of rest and preparation awaits the Saints after the quick one-game road trip, as they host Warner Pacific and Walla Walla next Friday and Sunday in Helena.
