HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College Athletics is proud to present another installment of a celebration of our outstanding Fighting Saint student-athletes who model excellence in all they do, embodying the NAIA Champions of Character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Student-athletes from each program will be recognized as our Fighting Saints Champions of Character throughout the year. We are excited to partner with Intrepid Credit Union to sponsor this recognition of our student-athletes. Intrepid Credit Union is a corporate champion of Carroll Athletics, supporting our 15 sports and 400-plus student-athletes.
 
From the Football team, the first Champion of Character is Hunter Peck.
 
Peck is a senior from Windsor, Colo. majoring in Biology.
 
This Fall, Peck was selected as a captain by his teammates, an honor reserved for only the most complete leaders within the storied program. Peck was selected as Carroll's recipient of the Montana Athletes in Service Award, recognizing student-athletes who go above and beyond to impact their institutions and communities as a whole. He was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Award, also known as the "Academic Heisman", and a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award.
 
On field, Peck had a stellar season. He was named the Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Year, First Team AFCA and VSN All-American, as well as Second Team AP All-American.

Peck is a leader within the athletic department as well, serving as a representative for Football on the Carroll Student-Athlete Avisory Coucil (SAAC), and wasecently he was named a CSC Academic All-District selection

"Hunter is an amazing leader, student, athlete, and member of the community." said Defensive Coordinator Randy Bandelow. "He lives our Creed everyday and has been a model example setter for our program since the day he stepped on campus. His unselfishness to put others first, and his care for those around him is infectious and raises the level of our entire program."
 
Carroll Volleyball's Champion of Character selection is Elizabeth Heuiser, who is majoring in Health Sciences.
 
Heuiser is a redshirt-junior from Helena, Mont. and had another outstanding season this past Fall following a return from injury in 2023.
 
Elizabeth is a second-generation Fighting Saint, following her parents Amy and Brian in excelling both on and off the court. Heuiser, like Peck, serves on the Carroll SAAC, as one of Volleyball's representatives.

Her teammates have described her as one of impeccable character. She's a quiet leader - reliable, consistent, passionate and loyal. Heuiser remains consistent at all times - both as a player and as a person. She has an extremely high expectation of herself and strives to bring out the best of those she surrounds herself with, balancing a challenging nursing schedule with playing volleyball and putting 100 percent into whatever is in front of her at that time. Above all, she's been described as the absolute teammate, a leader that everyone respects.
 
On the court, Heuiser has proven to be one of the conference's best. She led the Saints in kills (316), kills per set (2.72), points (380), and blocks (108). Her play in 2024 garnered her Second Team All-Frontier Conference honors, and prior to her redshirt season in '23, Heuiser had previously earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2022. She was recently selected as a CSC Academic All-District selection, and is among the top GPAs in the program.
