KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the latest edition of the 2024 NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Rating. Carroll College appears in the receiving votes category of the national poll.
What a difference a year makes.
Following a tumultuous 2023 campaign where nothing seemed to go right, things are firing on all cylinders for the Fighting Saints in 2024.
For the first time since 2022, (August 31 - Poll 1), the Carroll Volleyball team is appearing in the NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Poll. The receiving votes mark is the highest for the Saints since their No. 20 rating in the 2022 season.
Carroll is off to a 10-1 start to their season, riding a seven-game win streak as Frontier Conference play nears.
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / GR) has been a pillar of the Saints' early season success. Last season's national leader in digs per set sits on the top of the NAIA total digs leaderboard (286), and is No. 3 in the nation in digs per set (6.86).
The Frontier Conference as a whole is well-represented on the poll, with five of the six conference members appearing on the list (No. 13 Montana Western, No. 15 Providence, (RV) Carroll College, (RV) Rocky Mountain College, (RV) Montana Tech).
Carroll begins their Frontier Conference regular season on Friday, September 13, as they welcome No. 15 Providence to the Carroll College PE Center.
Rating Methodology:
- The rating is rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each rater rates the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place, 28 for third-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ratings for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) are removed. The team's rating will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the team appears on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered "receiving votes".
