Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Carroll Women Open CCC Play with 1-1 Draw

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Women's Soccer team's first Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup of the season against Rocky Mountain College resulted in a 1-1 draw  on Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.

The Fighting Saints (2-1-3) took an early lead thanks to a goal in the 14th minute on a breakaway from forward Jaymee Sheridan (Helena, Mont. / SR). Sheridan beat out a pair of defenders and snuck one past the Rocky keeper to put Carroll on top 1-0.

Rocky's Piper Adams-Jones tied the game in the 37th minute on a back-door goal off an assist that snuck over Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SO) from Morgan Hayes.

An eventful, yet scoreless, second half resulted in a draw. While no cards were shown on the afternoon, both teams were plenty physical. Rocky recorded eight fouls, compared to just four from Carroll.

Rocky out-paced the Saints in shots 15-11, while Carroll came out on top of the save count, 6-4.

Homecoming weekend is still in full swing for the Saints as they will turn around and host Walla Walla on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. at Nelson Stadium.
