HELENA, Mont. - The highly anticipated home opening Football game between Carroll and Montana Tech has officially been moved from its originally scheduled time. The game will now officially be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 7 in Helena.
Nelson Stadium received its first major renovation in the 23 year history of the facility during the off-season. Over the past five months, crews have been hard at work installing a new synthetic playing surface and premium lighting system.
With the renovation project nearing completion, officials from both schools have agreed to move the game time from its originally scheduled 1:07 p.m. kick-off to a 6:07 p.m. kick-off under the lights on the new Valley Bank Field turf.
"We're thrilled to kick off our opening game against Montana Tech as a night game under the lights." said Dr. John Cech, President of Carroll College. "I want to thank Chancellor Cook and the Montana Tech Athletic staff for their collaboration in making this possible. Saturday evening, September 7th, promises to be an exciting occasion as we unveil 'Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium' to our wider community,"Â
The 131st all-time meeting between Carroll and Montana Tech will be the 143rd Football game in Nelson Stadium history, but the first to be played under the lights.
Single game tickets will go on sale Thursday, August 22, while Carroll season ticket-holders received their electronic tickets today.
The September 7 matchup between the Fighting Saints and Orediggers will be broadcast throughout the state on SWX channels.
