CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced on Tuesday that William Dominguez of the Carroll College Men's Soccer team has been named the first male recipient of the 2023-24 Cashell Family Impact Scholarship.

Established in 2023 with a gift from Robert (CCC commissioner), Heather, and Elizabeth Cashell, the fund provides two scholarships awarded annually to one female and one male from among the student-athletes attending CCC schools who have displayed a significant and positive "impact" on their respective campuses.

Dominguez, a junior from Mattawa, Wash., has been an integral part of the Saints men's soccer team since he joined the program. He has had a difficult life, overcoming many obstacles to obtain the success he has achieved today. His regular schedule consists of working over 30 hours a week while constantly training and maintaining a 3.3 GPA. His teammates are just as adamant about his outstanding character, "Even with all on William's plate, he still has the drive to be fully committed to each one of those duties. His work ethic, humility, and his heart are the key ingredients you want in a co-worker, a teammate, or a friend," stated Saint midfielder Caleb Hoxie.
 
His undying dedication and perseverance have led him to never settle as he continues to strive for greatness. His positive outlook matched with his work ethic makes him a very big part of Carroll College and the soul of the team. He doesn't lead with words but by lifestyle and actions. Every goal he has is external, affecting others before him, showing how admirable he is. He is a high achieving role model who leads by example for his community by setting a quality standard of excellence. His devotion to faith has connected his team of all different places and cultures which is another way he practices his leadership skills.

"Our sincere thanks to the selection committee for their efforts in reviewing the nominations and making what we are sure was a difficult decision as every nominee has impacted their campuses and is worthy of recognition."
