LLANO, Calif. - The Carroll College Golf teams left work to do on day two of The Master's University Spring Invitational, with both the Women and Men sitting in sixth and seventh place, respectively.

The Fighting Saints didn't have the sharpest rounds coming out of a long winter break, and now have their work cut out to climb back up the leaderboards for final day play tomorrow.

As a team the Carroll Women shot a collective +80 in the opening round. Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / SO) and Celi Chapman (Montana City, Mont. / FR) paced the Saints in round one, both fining rounds of 89 (+17) to sit T-20 in the individual portion of the event. Katie Fagg (Missoula, Mont. / SR) had an off day, shooting 93 (+21), and will look to rebound tomorrow in round two.

On the Men's side, Jackson Hammond (Scottsdale, Ariz. / FR) had the best day for the Saints. After opening the day with a birdie on his first hole, Hammond would finish with rounds of 72, 85 (+17 total) to sit in T-22 in the individual event. Both JT Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / FR) and TJ Fierling (North Bend, Wash. / FR) would finish right near him. Slivinski sits at T-24 individually with day one total of 164 (+20), and Fierling at T-26 with a total of 165 (+21).

Both teams will look to improve on their day one totals tomorrow morning in final round play from the Crystalaire Country Club in Llano, Calif.
