Two National Qualifiers and One School Record for Saints Track & Field at Big Sky Tuner

Bozeman, Mont. – Saints Track & Field had a strong showing at the Big Sky Tuner in their final meet of the regular season for indoor.

Two individuals punched their tickets for the NAIA Indoor National Championships. Brycen Gardner ran the NAIA B Standard in the 3000m. In his debut in the event, he won his heat, placed 7th overall, and moved up to 2nd on Carroll's All-Time Top 10 list for the event. He ran a solid double with a time close to his personal record in the Mile later in the day. Madalen Shipman debuted in the 600m, hitting the NAIA B Standard and qualifying for Nationals in track for the first time.

For the women, Chloe Gallagher had a great day, placing 4th in the Pole Vault. She hit a personal record that moved her up to the NAIA A Standard and 9th in the nation for NAIA. On the men's side, Tim Sellars broke the school record in the Weight Throw, setting a personal best and placing 8th. He also made finals in the Shot Put.

With competitive fields and finally a few months of training under their belts, a slew of personal records were set by 3000m and Mile racers. For the 3000m, this included Connor O'Hara, Anna Terry, Jenna Castro, and Erika Arthur. In the Mile, Luke Decker, Peter Rehberger, Hannah Sempf, and Terry set personal bests. O'Hara moved up to 8th on Carroll's Top 10 list and missed qualifying for Nationals by only 5 seconds.

Multiple Saints set personal records in the sprints, hurdles, and jumps on Friday. Wyatt Cox had personal bests in both the 60m and Long Jump, and Katelyn Christensen set a personal record in the 400m. Jackson Barney moved up to 10th All-Time for Carroll with his lifetime best in the Pole Vault. In the 60 Hurdles, Rylee Herbstritt set a personal record for the second week in a row, moving up to 5th on the Carroll Top 10 list. Gabriella Domenici also ran a personal best in the 60 Hurdles, moving to 7th All-Time for the Saints.

"This was a great way to wrap up our regular season for indoor," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "It will be fun to have a group headed to Nationals in a few weeks, but the rest of the team will be diving in to work to get ready for a competitive outdoor season," he added.

Most of the Saints squad will dig in immediately to preparations for outdoor season starting up next month. Gallagher, Gardner, and Shipman will head to the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Brookings, S.D. on February 29 to March 2. Tucker Monaco currently sits at 16th in the NAIA in the Heptathlon which would earn him a trip to Nationals. He will await Conference Meet results from across the NAIA this weekend to determine whether his position holds moving into selection of the competition field starting on Monday.
