Men's Basketball | 12/07/24 | 10:17 AM
HELENA, Mont. - Following a lengthy break the Carroll Men's Basketball team will play their first game in two weeks, hosting future Frontier Conference-member Dickinson State at 2 p.m. in the Carroll College PE Center.
The Fighting Saints (3-6) will look to build some momentum over the final month of the calendar year before heading into conference play, starting with a matinee with the Blue Hawks (3-5).
After starting the season off hot the Saints have dropped six of their last seven games. Following a fast-and-furious start to the 2024-25 schedule, a break in the action gave the Men a chance to rest, recover, and revisit what went right and what went wrong for a young group of Saints under first year Head Coach Dan Pearson.
Getting guys healthy, and getting some more practice time should bode well for the Saints.
Carroll enters the game with four players averaging double-digit points (Crane, Lang, Kramer, Round), led by redshirt-freshman
Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore.) at 17.2 points per game.Â
Derek Kramer (Bellevue, Wash.) is off to a great start in his junior campaign, as the Carroll big man is averaging a double-double through nine games played this year (13.2 ppg, 10.3 rpg).
Saturday's game will be the fourth-consecutive matchup for the Blue Hawks with current Frontier members. Dickinson State picked up a win over MSU-Northern three weeks ago, before falling in back to back games against Montana Western and Rocky.
Carroll leads the series 7-3 dating back to the 2014-15 season, but it was the Blue Hawks who emerged victorious in the last meeting between the two teams last season in Dickinson.
Carroll Athletics is partnering once again with Van's Thriftway to help keep local-area Head Start students warm this winter. Fans attending this afternoon's game are encouraged to bring and donate new or lightly used winter hats, gloves, snow pants, winter jackets, socks and shoes (Size 3T-6X, Shoes 11-4) to help local children in need. Donation boxes will be located at each entrance, and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Tip-off is slated for p.m., and the game will be streamed live on the Fighting Saints NetworkÂ
