HELENA, Mont. - The No. 21-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team picked up a one-sided 94-47 win over the University of Alberta-Augustana on Sunday afternoon at the PE Center.
The Fighting Saints (7-5) got rolling early, and never let off in a 47-point rout of the Vikings (2-8) on Sunday afternoon.
Carroll raced out to a large first quarter lead on their neighbors to the North, with WIlla Albrecht (Bilings, Mont. / R-JR) and
Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / R-SR) scoring 12 and 11, respectively. The 57 percent shooting frame for the Saints saw them go on top 29-13, and they wouldn't look back.
Meagan Karstetter (Moses Lake, Wash. / JR) and
Elliot Hencz (Spokane, Wash. / R-SO) combined for 13 points in the second quarter as the Saints extended their lead to 54-28 after one half of play. As a team, the Saints went 23-40 from the floor in the first half, handily beating their largest scoring half of the season.
Keller and Albrecht again shined in the third quarter, combining for 15 points in a perfect effort from the field and free throw line, while also coming away with four steals in the frame to help once again grow the Carroll lead to 41 after three.
The large lead allowed Head Coach Rachelle Sayers to give her younger players and JV Seniors a chance to shine in the fourth.
Halle Fitzgerald (Dillon, Mont. / FR) was outstanding in her first extended collegiate minutes. The former Beaver scored nine fourth quarter points, while coming away with a pair of steals, helping lock up the 94-47 win for the Fighting Saints.
Albrecht was fantastic in the lopsided victory, leading all players with 21 points while pulling down four rebounds and an assist.
Keller added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Karstetter scored 15.
Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) orchestrated the attack, finishing one point shy of a double-double with 10 assists and nine points.
Alberta-Augustana's Mackenzie Mrazik led the Vikings with 17 points in the loss.
Carrolll will wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule tomorrow afternoon against Keyano (Can.) at 2 p.m.
