Carroll Men Snap Skid, Top Triple Digits in Win

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team got back in the Win column with a 109-59 victory over Alberta-Augustana on Sunday afternoon at the PE Center.

The Fighting Saints (4-8) scored early-and-often in a blowout 50-point victory over the Vikings (2-8) on Sunday.

One of the best shooting halves of the 2024-25 season spurred a lopsided Carroll win, as the Saints shot 53 percent from the floor as a team in the opening frame. By the under-14 media timeout, Carroll had opened up a 10-point lead that would never be relinquished.

Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR) was too much for the Vikings to handle, scoring 17 points in the first 20 minutes on a 7-10 effort from the field. Lorence Dela Cruz (Winnipeg, Manitoba / JR) added 11 points off the bench, and the Saints doubled-up Alberta-Augustana 60-30 in the opener.

It was a full-team effort in the opening 20, as nine different Saints scored, and ten total Saints recording a first half stat.

Carter Doleac (Sandy, Utah / FR) saw his first action as a Saint, and the big man from Utah made an instant impact in the second half. Doleac was an impressive 7-7 from the floor, finishing the game, with 15 points, six rebounds, and a pair of steals.

Carroll doubled the Vikings up on the boards in the second half, out-rebounding Alberta-Augustana 22-11, and Josiah Cuaresma (Missoula, Mont. / SO) added seven points to help close out the one-sided win for the Purple and Gold.

Carroll got 58 points off the bench, while scoring 42 total points off of turnovers in a game that was decisively in favor of the Saints.

Four Saints (Crane, Cuaresma, Doleac, Dela Cruz) scored 15 points or more, while six Saints scored at least ten total points (Moore, Round) in the win, led by Crane's 19-point performance,

The Saints dominated the assist category, with 28 scores coming by way of assist compared to just 12 for the Vikings .

Jonathan Gomes led Alberta-Augustana with 16 points in the loss.

Tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm. Carroll will wrap up 2024 with another Canadian opponent, Keyano College.
