HELENA, Mont. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its women's volleyball All-America Teams for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, as chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee. Carroll College defensive specialist Julia Carr was named Honorable Mention All-American.
Carr, a defensive specialist from Portland, Ore., was Carroll's lone selection to the AVCA All-American teams. The All-American honor puts a bow on one of the most prolific careers in Carroll Volleyball history for the Libero.
Carr earned the Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Year award after leading both the league and the NAIA in both digs per set and total digs. She averaged 7.0 digs per set and racked up 840 total digs on the year. She finished the season as the lone player in the nation to average 7.0 digs per set.
Over the past five seasons, the defensive specialist has been outstanding, totaling 3255 total digs (6.43 digs per set). Both marks are program records. Carr was a three-time Frontier All-Conference First Team selection, with second-team selection a year ago.
Carr is the first Carroll Volleyball player since the 2021 season to earn an AVCA All-American honor (Taelyr Krantz - Third Team), and the first player since 2022 to earn any national postseason honor (Elizabeth Heuiser - NAIA Honorable Mention).
The 2024 class includes 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 28 schools, and an additional 57 players were honorable mention selections.
