HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team will begin their quest for the 2024 Frontier Conference Tournament crown on Friday, kicking-off play with a game against fifth-seeded MSU-Northern at 11 a.m. in Havre.
The Fighting Saints (17-12, 5-10) earned the fourth seed for the postseason championship, and will have an instant rematch with the Skylights (12-15, 4-11), who they played in the final regular season game a week ago in Helena.
Carroll spent the vast majority of the season in the receiving votes portion of the NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Poll, but skid near the end of the year bumped them from the most recent poll.
Following a reverse sweep of Rocky in the penultimate game of the season, the Saints locked up the four-seed for this weekend's tournament. MSU-Northern returned the favor last Saturday, storming back from a two-set deficit to win in five, securing the fifth seed to set up Friday's tournament opener on their home court.
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / GR) finished the 2024 regular season with both the top total dig count (819) and digs per set mark (7.02) in the entire NAIA, and will look to end her storied career on a high-note this weekend in Havre.
Carroll won two of the three meetings between the two schools in the regular season, a pair of four set matches, before dropping the final contest in five.
The winner of today's opening round will advance to play either Providence or Montana Tech this evening in the semifinals, with Providence playing the lowest remaining seed as the 2024 regular season champions.
