Medford, Ore. - The Carroll Men's Soccer team fell 2-0 to fourth-seeded Eastern Oregon in the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship Final at Wheeler Field on Thursday.

A historic run for the Fighting Saints (14-3-3) came up one win shy of a complete sweep of CCC honors on Thursday, as the Saints couldn't quite overcome the Mountaineers in a tightly-contested matchup.

Thursday's final was a rematch against the last team to hold Carroll scoreless this season (10-12, 0-0 tie), and again the Saints would struggle to find net.

Alfie Snow (Middlesbrough, England / JR) provided Carroll's best look in the first half. The CCC Newcomer of the Year blasted a shot from the top of the box, but watched it rattle the cross bar and Carroll would enter the half in a scoreless tie.

Just one minute removed from the halftime break, the Mounties would find a breakaway goal off a heavy counter to go on top 1-0. Angel Sandoval buried a shot into the left corner of the net following a great thru-ball from Marcos Bravo to give EOU the lead.

A penalty kick was awarded to the Mounties in the 65th minute, but Edgar Romero Perez would sail his shot well above the frame to keep things 1-0.

Eastern Oregon would double their lead in the 78th minute, as a shot from Abner Hernandez would slip past Juan Muniz Navarrete (Hermiston, Ore. / SR) and EOU would go up 2-0 with time dwindling.

Carroll out-shot the Mountaineers in both halves, but nine saves by Anthony Lemus would prove to be the difference as EOU would go on to claim the tournament title.

The Saints will now await the results of the NAIA Men's Soccer selection show to find out when, where, and who they will be playing in the upcoming NAIA National Championship.
