MEDFORD, Ore. - The top-seeded Carroll Men's Soccer team flexed their muscle in a quarterfinal match of the 2024 CCC Championship, earning a 4-0 shutout over Multnomah on Sunday evening.
The Fighting Saints (13-2-3, 7-1-1) made tidy work of the Lions (7-8-3) on Sunday, looking as sharp as ever heading into a semifinal appearance on Monday afternoon.
Quiet down the home-stretch of the regular season,
Felix Billard (Mallorca, Spain / SO) reminded everyone in the league just how good he is in the first half of the shutout victory.
Billard recorded a first half brace, breaking the scoreless tie in the 28th minute with a one-timer off assists from both
Adam Webster (Las Vegas, Nev. / JR) and
Alfie Snow (Middlesbrough, England / JR).
He followed that up just four minutes later, beating the Multnomah keeper on a penalty kick goal to give the Saints a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Sam Loughton (Hull, England / SO) started the second half off in a big way, notching a goal just over a minute into the frame with an assist from
Sean Balen (Mukilteo, Wash. / SO) to extend the lead to 3-0.
Billard capped his hat-trick performance with a third goal in the 70th minute, this time assisted by
Michal Mojzis (Bratislava, Slovakia / SR) to put the match on ice.
Carroll heavily out-shot the Lions in the match (CC-19, MU-5), and goalkeeper Juan Muniz Navarrete (Hermison, Ore. / SR) needed only two saves to record his 12th shutout of the year.
With the win, the Saints advance to play seventh-seeded Oregon Tech on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.
