Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Carroll Men Lose Steam in Second Half, Fall to SOU

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Men's Basketball team dropped their second game of the 2024 Delta Marriott Classic, falling to Southern Oregon 92-74 on Saturday night at the PE Center.

The fifth game in eight days appeared to take its toll on the Fighting Saints (2-3), as they watched the Raiders (4-0) pull away in the second, following a hard-fought first half.

Carroll shot better than 50 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes (15-26), seeing double-digit scoring halves from the pair of Jesuit-products James Lang (Portland, Ore. / R-JR - 11 pts) and Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR - 10 pts), but 10 turnovers would keep Carroll from bringing a lead into the break. The Saints out-shot the Raiders by a wide margin in the first stanza, as SOU went just 13-14 from the field, but the teams would enter halftime tied at 34.

Carroll grabbed a brief two-point lead coming out of the half, but saw it evaporate in a hurry. SOU went on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes, building a lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

The Saints would manage to trim the Raider advantage to just four points midway through the second half, but were unable to ever fully recover from the early half SOU run.

The Raiders dominated the glass in the second half, out-rebounding Carroll 18-9, while also going 21-34 from the field as a team to run away with the 18-point win.

Derek Kramer (Bellevue, Wash. / JR) scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, but the effort would come up short. The Carroll big man posted another double-double, adding 10 rebounds, a pair of blocks, and a steal to his final tally.

Five Raiders would finish with double-digit scoring figures, led by Brice Dyer's 14-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Another pair of games awaits the Saints next weekend, as they take on Lewis-Clark State and Cal-Maritime in Butte on Friday and Saturday.
