HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team picked up a program-first ninth CCC win this afternoon in Helena, shutting out Northwest 3-0 at Nelson Stadium.
The Fighting Saints (10-2-3, 9-1-1) dominated the pitch from whistle to whistle, solidifying their position at the top of the CCC table with a 2-0 win over the Eagles (3-7-5, 1-4-5).
Right from the start, it was clear the Saints had no intention of losing.
Alfie Snow (Middlesbrough, England / JR) opened the scoring just three minutes into the game off of a tremendous ball from fellow Englishman
Sam Loughton (Hull, England / SO), giving the Saints a 1-0 advantage they would never surrender.
In the 41st minute, Snow added his second goal of the match.
Adam Webster (Las Vegas, Nev. / JR) connected with Snow on the far side of the box off of a corner kick, and the transfer-forward was able to beat the keeper and double Carroll's lead heading into the break.
Snow would complete the third-leg of his hat-trick in the 59th minute, with
Ryan Quinn (Helena, Mont. / GR) assisting to give the Saints the 3-0 lead that would end up as final.
Juan Muniz Navarrete (Hermiston, Ore. / SR) added another clean sheet to his record, needing only one save in the match.
Following a tie in the Southern Oregon - Oregon Tech game this afternoon, the Saints find themselves in the driver's seat for an outright CCC regular season championship.
Carroll will look to keep things rolling against Evergreen State tomorrow afternoon at Nelson Stadium.
