HELENA, Mont. - The No. 5-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team played suffocating defense in a 61-34 rout of Montana Tech on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten in Frontier Conference play.

The Fighting Saints (12-3, 3-0) put on a defensive showcase in Saturday's matinee win over the Orediggers (10-6, 1-2).

Tech came out of the gates swinging, knocking down a pair of three pointers in the first couple of minutes, but Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / SR) and Willa Albrecht (R-JR) matched with threes of their own to regain early control. The first quarter would be the Orediggers' best, as they scored 16 points and shot 55 percent from the field, but Mddie Geritz's (Boise, Idaho / SR) eight points would help give Carroll a 23-16 lead after one.

Carroll held Tech to just four points in the second quater. Tech did their best impression of the frigid weather in the second, shooting an ice-cold 11 percent from the field. Keller scored seven second quarter points to give Carroll a 37-20 lead at the halftime break.

The third quarter would be just as anemic for the Orediggers. Once again, Carroll's defense was too much for Tech to handle, and the Saints would outscore them 19-6 in the fame. 

With the game clearly in hand, Carroll went to their reserves in the fourth quarter and coasted to a dominant 61-34 win.

Saturday's win marked the 21st-consecutive Carroll victory over Montana Tech dating back to 2017, and gives the Saints 14-straight Frontier Conference wins dating back to last January.

Four Carroll starters posted double-digit points scored on the day, led by the front court tandem of Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / GR) and Maddie Geritz. Both paint players scored 14 points, while Pickens extended her double-double streak, pulling down 12 rebounds as well.

Liv Wangerin scored nine points to pace the Orediggers.

Carroll dominated to boards, out-rebounding Montana Tech 37-22 in the game.

The Saints will look to keep things rolling this week, heading to Billings for a showdown with No. 12 Rocky Mountain College on Thursday.
