HELENA, Mont. - The Frontier Conference has announced the winners of its weekly individual awards. Carroll's
Hunter Peck has been named the Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a big performance in week one.
Hunter Peck is a six-foot, two-inch junior linebacker from Windsor, Colo.
Peck had a tremendous outing in the No. 15-ranked Fighting Saints' season opening road victory over No. 16 Montana Tech. The junior finished tied for a team high with six tackles. He recorded two sacks for a total loss of 13 yards, as well as two tackles for loss.
Peck made perhaps one of the biggest plays of the win on Thursday, chasing down the Montana Tech ballcarrier and forcing him out of bounds short of the goal line on a late two point attempt that would have tied the game with under five minutes to play.
This is the second year in a row where a Carroll student-athlete has been named Defensive Player of the Week in the team's first game of the season (2022 -
Tucker Jones - Week Zero).
Peck and the Saints are deep in preparation for their home opener on Saturday in Nelson Stadium as they host the nation's No. 14-ranked team, St. Thomas University (Fla.).
