SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Carroll College Volleyball team fell in straight sets this morning to Saint Katherine (Calif.), the host school of this weekend's event, in what would end up being their only game of the day.
The Fighting Saints (5-6) were unable to pick up a set win this morning against Saint Katherine (8-2), before being told they would be unable to play in their final scheduled match of the 2023 Saint Katherine Invite.
Very little would go right for the Saints on Saturday. The team fell in three sets (13-25, 20-25, 13-25) to the Firebirds, hitting a dismal . 024 as a group for the match.
Sidney Gulick (Kalispell, Mont. / SO) led the team with six kills, while Lauren Hueiser (Helena, Mont. / FR) put up an impressive five blocks.Â
Saint Katherine's Addison Metts led all players with 10 kills for the Firebirds.
Abnormally humid conditions in the gymnasium created condensation and raised concerns for player safety leading into the scheduled afternoon contests. Tournament officials made the decision to cancel the final games of the event on the basis of unsafe playing conditions.
Carroll will head back to Helena and spend the week preparing for a Saturday morning home contest against St. Thomas (Fla.), at 9 a.m. in the Carroll PE Center.
