Julia Carr Grabs Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week Honor for Week One

HELENA, Mont. - The Frontier Conference has announced the first Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Player of the Week selections of the 2023 season. Julia Carr of Carroll has been recognized as the Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week following her performance at the 2023 Big Sky Challenge.

Carr is a five-foot seven-inch, senior defensive specialist from Portland, Ore.

Carroll College opened the 2023 season with a 3-1 record at the Big Sky Challenge. The Saints went 3-1 on the weekend, losing an opening round contest to Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) 0-3, followed by three straight victories over Warner Pacific (Ore.) 3-0, Bushnell (Ore.) 3-0 and Spring Arbor (Mich.) 3-1.

Carr was tremendous in the back row, where she averaged 7.08 digs per set, to pace the conference. She amassed 92 total digs on the weekend, including 33 against Spring Arbor.

Carr is no stranger to the honor, having been given the distinction three times in 2022, including the first week of the season, where she also was named the NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week.

The Fighting Saints are in Missoula, Mont. for an exhibition match with NCAA Division I opponent Montana this evening.
