LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Carroll College golf teams fell slightly off the pace they set in the opening round at the Frontier Conference Championship, but both teams remain firmly in third place heading into the third-and-final round on Wednesday.


Reflection Bay Golf Course was set up as long as it will play this week, with the Black tees stretching the course to 6950 yards. Scores across the board were slightly higher than those from Monday's opening round as players dealt with 20 mile-per-hour winds nearly all day long.

After a great start in round one, Leo Werschay (St. Augusta, Minn. / FR) had a rough go in Tuesday's second round. Werschay shot 92 (+20) on a frustrating day, but still finds himself inside the top-ten, sitting at No. 9 on the individual leaderboard.

Jonny Hillman (Post Falls, Idaho / SR) fired the round of the day for the Saints. Hillman, fresh off of the Men's Basketball season, shot up the leaderboard as the day's biggest mover on the heels of a nine-over round of 81. His strong second round moves him into the top-ten, where he sits just one stroke behind Werschay.

Kaden Matheny (Missoula, Mont. / FR) (90) and Caleb Spangler (Havre, Mont. / FR) (85) round out the Carroll four, sitting at No. 13 and No. 16, respectively after two days. 

The Carroll Men 694) held very steady in the standings. The Saints trail Montana Tech (650) and Rocky Mountain College (600), but have a substantial lead over MSU-Northern (741) heading into the final round.

As with Werschay on the Men's side, Katie Fagg (Missoula, Mont. / SR) had a bit of a frustrating day two. Fagg dropped back one spot on the individual leaderboard to No. 6 after an 18-over round of 90 on Tuesday. 

Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / FR) shot 96 and sits T-12. Isa Tomazeli (Sao Paulo, Brazil / SO) stayed in the top-15 after a round of 99 on Tuesday, and Echo Anderson (Post Falls, Idaho / JR) shot 97 to round out the Carroll four scores.

The Carroll Women (762) find themselves locked firmly into third place in the team competition, trailing Montana Tech (700) and Rocky Mountain College (633). The Saints have a comfortable lead over the next closest team, Montana Western (833).

Rocky Mountain College boasts the individual leaders on both the Men's and Women's side, Valentia Zuleta (144, Even) and Hadyn Driver (146, +2).

Both Carroll teams will look to make a final surge in Wednesday's final round and chase down the teams in front of them.
