Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 11 Carroll Women Clinch Share of Frontier Title, Down Montana Tech 62-49

BUTTE, Mont. - The No. 11 Carroll College Women's Basketball team earned yet another double-digit victory over Montana Tech this evening in Butte by a final score of 62-49.

The Fighting Saints (21-5, 12-1) achieved at least one of their season goals this evening in Butte. Their 62-49 win over Montana Tech (7-16, 3-10) ensures that Carroll will walk out of the regular season with at very worst a share of the Frontier Conference Title.

Tonight's win over Montana Tech completed a season-long sweep of the Orediggers and more impressively, marked No. 20 in-a-row for the Saints dating back to 2017.

Carroll controlled the game throughout, leading wire-to-wire. Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) made her presence felt early in the game, scoring seven first quarter points to give the Saints a 16-14 advantage.

Pickens would add on another five points in the second quarter, while Maddie Geritz (Boise, Idaho / R-SR) scored six points of her own from the other forward position. Carroll again outscored Montana Tech and carried a 35-28 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Carroll's defense showed their might. The Saints held the Orediggers to just nine third quarter points, and extended their lead to 13 points entering the final quarter of play.

Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / JR) scored six of her 12 second half points in the fourth quarter, and the Saints would match the output of Montana Tech to cruise to a 62-49 win.

Carroll heavily out-rebounded the Orediggers by a margin of 11 (Carroll 35, Tech 24), and held Montana Tech to just 35.6 percent from the field as a team.

Jamie Pickens came up just two rebounds short of a double-double, finishing with a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds.

Kyndall Keller, returning to the court after missing time with a leg injury, finished her night with 18 points.

Kamden Hilborn (Clancy, Mont. / GR) continued her impressive season, adding nine more assists to her own program record.

Montana Tech's Tavia Rooney scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Carroll will now focus all attention towards a final matchup with No. 22 Rocky Mountain College on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Helena, with a chance to clinch the outright Frontier Conference Championship.
