Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Carroll Men Fall to Montana Western for First Time This Season

DILLON, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team were unable to pick up a road win and complete a season sweep of Montana Western on Saturday, falling 63-57 in Dillon.

The Fighting Saints (11-12, 5-7) suffered from another poor shooting performance, falling on the road to Montana Western (9-16, 4-8).

The first half was very evenly contested. Both teams shot near 40 percent from the field. Montana Western held a three rebound advantage, while the Saints would go on to carry a three point advantage at the half. A back-and-forth first half saw Carroll take a 33-30 lead into the break.

A pair of Carroll Seniors stuffed the stat sheet in the first. Brendan Temple (Castle Rock, Colo. / SR) scored 11 first half points, while Jonny Hillman (Post Falls, Idaho / SR) pulled down eight rebounds to go with his eight first half points.

The second half was again tightly contested. Neither team was able to pull away, with Montana Western garnering the half's largest lead at just five points with 14 minutes remaining.
The teams would exchange the lead several times throughout the final seven minutes of the game.

With 1:28 remaining, Western's Michael Haverfield hit a three point shot to put the Bulldogs up by two. Carroll would come up empty on the following possession, and Jok Jok would go on to ice the game on four made free throws.

Brendan Temple had a terrific outing, finishing with a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds. Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / SO) and Jonny Hillman each finished with 11 points.

Colter Miller led the Bulldogs, finishing the game with a team-high 14 points.

Carroll will now travel to Butte for a rivalry game with Montana Tech, looking to win the season series heading into the Frontier tournament.
