Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 11 Carroll Women Beat Providence on Senior Day

HELENA, Mont. - The No. 11 Carroll College Women's Basketball team capped off another terrific season with one last home win over Providence, 74-60 on Saturday in Helena.

The Fighting Saints (23-5, 14-1) made sure that their seven seniors did not have a tarnished memory of their senior day, beating Providence (15-13, 5-10) for the third time this season.

It didn't take long for Kamden Hilborn (Clancy, Mont. / GR) to get her first assist of the game, an assist of note because it was her program record's No. 500. Hilborn fed Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / JR) for a layup just a few minutes into the game to become the only player in Carroll history to accrue 500 assists.

Providence's Maddy Dixon, however, was the star of the first quarter, scoring nine points in a high-scoring quarter between the two schools. Carroll carried a 23-20 going into the second.

The Carroll defense went to work in the second quarter, holding Providence to just 25 percent from the field, and entering the halftime break with a seven point advantage.

Kyndall Keller was a force to be reckoned with in the third quarter, finishing the period with 12 points on 4-5 shooting from the field. A pesky Providence team would refuse to back down however, keeping pace with the Saints and staying within striking range.

Carroll would go on to hold the Argos to just nine total fourth quarter points, shutting the door on any sort of late game heroics and sealing a 14-1 Frontier Conference record.

Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR), one of seven Saints seniors had a day to remember. Pickens notched yet another double-double on the year, finishing with a game-high 22 points and game-high 14 rebounds in her last regular season game of her career. Keller finished right behind her with 20 points on the afternoon. Genesis Wilkinson (Moses Lake, Wash. / SR) scored 12 for the Saints, and Hilborn finished with eight assists to bring her tally to 507 in total.

Providence saw Reed Hazard (16) and Maddy Dixon (14) combine for 30 points in the loss.

Carroll entered the game already having clinched the Frontier Title, and leaves the weekend now knowing that they will face the lowest remaining seed in the second round of the Frontier Conference tournament next Monday at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls.
