Helena, Mont. – Saints Track & Field concludes the regular indoor season at the Big Sky Tuner in Bozeman, Mont. on Friday February 17.
The Saints currently have six athletes qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships: Brett Glaser (Heptathlon - A Standard), Garrett Kocab (Shot Put - B Standard), Tate Kauffman (Triple Jump - B Standard), Josh Smalley (Pole Vault - B Standard), Reghan Worley (5000m - A Standard), and Natalie Yocum (800m - B Standard). Kocab and Yocum especially seem poised to improve their B Standard Qualifications to A Standards, ensuring their entry in the meet. Worley will attempt to qualify for a second event in the 3000m.
The team will be looking to add a few more qualifiers that have narrowly missed the standards so far this season. That includes Chloe Gallagher (Pole Vault), Madde Boles (High Jump), and Van Gottwals (800m) who have qualified for Nationals in the past. Paige Baxstresser (400m) also enters the meet with a mark approaching the qualifying standard.
Carroll will take its largest squad of the year to the event with 48 total athletes, and each individual will be aiming for a competitive meet to cap off the indoor season. Athletes from every Frontier Conference school will participate, so it will be a great preview of the upcoming outdoor season which will culminate in the Frontier Conference Outdoor Championships in late April.
"We're hoping for the work we've put in this season to come together into strong performances this weekend," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "It should be a competitive atmosphere that has the potential to bring out our best," he added.
On Friday, field events begin at 10:30 am Mountain Time and running events start at 12:10 pm.
