Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Carroll Men Handle Rocky Easily, 89-67

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team picked up a bounce-back win on Saturday, beating Rocky Mountain College 89-67 on Saturday.

The Fighting Saints (12-13, 6-8) completed a season sweep of Rocky Mountain College (12-14, 5-9) on Saturday.

Carroll took control early, taking a six point lead five minutes into the game after a Jonny Hillman (Post Falls, Idaho / SR) layup, but Rocky would go on a run to take the lead back. The Saints would not surrender the lead again for the remainder of the first half, extending their lead to nine points entering the halftime break on a Gui Pedra (Sao Paulo, Brazil / JR) layup with just seconds left in the first half.

The Saints controlled the game in the second half, expanding on their halftime lead and never looking back. Carroll would expand their lead to as large as 28 points after a Brayden Koch (Helena, Mont. / FR) layup with five minutes remaining in the game. Rocky would attempt to come back, but the Saints had accrued such a significant lead that the comeback effort would be futile. Carroll would cruise to a 22 point victory.

The win gained seperation over one of the teams Carroll was tied with for fourth place in the Frontier standings. Montana Western picked up a home win over MSU-Northern, but Carroll possess the tiebreaker over the Bulldogs by way of their two regular season victories over them.

Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / SO) led all scorers with 21 points. Jonny Hillman finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Saints.

Rocky's Maxim Stephens finished with 11 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for the Bears.

Carroll will now shift focus towards a senior day matchup with Providence next Saturday at 4 p.m. in the final game of the 2022-23 regular season.
