HELENA, Mont. – Montana Campus Compact annually recognizes and honors student-athlete volunteers from each college in Montana with its Montana Athletes in Service Award (MAIS). Ben Held was the 2023 Carroll College Montana Athletes in Service Award recipient.
 
Each year at the "Brawl of the Wild", Montana Campus Connect's CEO council honors each of these student athletes at halftime.
 
Ben Held (Great Falls, Mont. / R-JR), a five-foot, 11-inch linebacker was named Carroll's Montana Athletes in Service Award recipient.
 
Ben actively engages with the community as a unified partner for the Helena Halos, a Special Olympics team, demonstrating a commitment to inclusive sports and fostering a supportive environment. Simultaneously, Ben holds the positions of vice president and treasurer for the Carroll Special Olympics Club, contributing to the organization's financial well-being and overall success.
 
Ben's dedication to community service extends further as a volunteer leader for the Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church youth group, creating positive and enriching experiences for the parish's youth. Additionally, Ben generously volunteers at the Alliance for Youth in Great Falls, a center dedicated to meeting the physical, social, and emotional needs of vulnerable youth. His active engagement in this initiative reflects his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals facing challenges.
 
Held continuously leads his team in service hours, and is a tremendous asset to not only Carroll Football, but the college, and more importantly, his community as a whole.
 
In addition to being recognized for his servant leadership at this weekend's game, Held was also named Carroll Football's Champion of Character, for his continuous demonstration of outstanding service to others above self.
 
On the field, Held was an impact player for the Saints. Held finished the season with 36 total tackles, 5.5 TFL, a forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
