Carroll Cross Country to Race in Frontier Conference Championships Friday

MT Open XC 23
Trasie Humble (Humble In Montana)

Men's Cross Country | 11/02/23 | 8:58 PM

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College Cross Country will compete at the Frontier Conference Championships in Great Falls, Mont. on November 3.

On the women's side, 14 individuals will race for the Saints. For the men, 10 athletes will compete. At the Conference Preview in September, five women and five men placed in the Top 10 for the Saints. Carroll will be aiming to repeat those potential All-Conference individual performances in pursuit of their 4th women's and 3rd men's Conference Championships in a row.

The Saints will be up against stiff competition in both races with nationally ranked Rocky Mountain College and Montana Tech. For women, Carroll is ranked 16th with Tech and Rocky close behind in 20th and 23rd respectively. Tech and Rocky surpassed the Saints in the latest men's ratings. Tech is ranked 16th, Rocky 19th, and Carroll 25th for the men.

"We're aiming to stay true to our identity and our process this week despite the excitement of hoping to qualify for Nationals," said Head Coach Shannon Flynn. "Both teams have put in a tremendous build looking back all the way to the beginning of the summer, so we're hoping to capitalize on that work and on the way we've come together as a group over the season to have a great race this week."

Carroll can qualify for Nationals with an automatic bid by winning the Conference Championship or with an at-large bid if they are rated highly enough in the national polls.

The races will take place at Hickory Swing Golf Course Friday with the Women's 6k at 1:00 pm and the Men's 8k at 1:45 pm.
