CALDWELL, Idaho - The Carroll College Women's Basketball team picked up a 64-56 win on the road over College of Idaho on Saturday night in Caldwell, Idaho.
The Fighting Saints (4-2) put a bow on a three-win week with the win over the Yotes (0-6), building momentum for a tough back end of the month of November.
Neither team could find a bucket to open the game, with the game's first points, two
Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / GR) free throws, coming after the first media timeout.
The Yotes would hold an 11-9 advantage after Carroll's poor-shooting opening quarter.
Carroll turned things on in a big way in the second.
The Saints went 66 percent from the field in a 25-point outburst to blow the game wide open. Pickens and
Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR) combined for 14 points, and the Saints would hold C of I to just seven points in the second to carry a commanding 34-18 lead into the break.
Pickens was just as dominant in the third frame, adding nine points to her tally and Carroll would extend their lead to 19 points heading into the final quarter of play.
With the game in hand, Coach Sayers got her reserves some quality court time, and the Yotes would make a late run to bring the game to the eight-point Carroll victory.
Pickens finished her big night with a game-high 23 points, as well as seven rebounds.Â
Isabelle Erickson (Broadview, Mont. / R-SO) had an outstanding evening, finishing with 11 points, three rebounds, and a block.
Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / SR) added 14 points, going 2-4 from beyond the arc.
College of Idaho's Mia Austin had a great showing in the loss, finishing with 20 points on 8-15 shooting from the field.
The Saints will return to Helena and prepare for their Thanksgiving Classic, as they welcome Lewis Clark State and Southern Oregon to the PE Center next Friday and Saturday.
