Carroll Volleyball Swept at Providence

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team fell in straight sets tonight to the University of Providence at the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls.

The Fighting Saints (5-19, 0-8) couldn't get anything going on Friday night, dropping three straight to the Argonauts (13-9, 5-2).

Carroll had their worst team attacking night of the season, hitting just .039 on what would be a very frustrating night.

After jumping out to an early 4-1 lead, Carroll would see Providence turn things around and race to a 25-15 opening frame victory.

The Saints would rally from a 20-10 deficit in the second set, pulling within three points at 24-21, but their comeback attempt would fall short in the frame and Providence would secure the 25-21 second set win.

Another early set lead in the third frame would fall apart for the Saints, as Providence scored 19 of the final 23 points of the set to earn the three-set sweep over Carroll.

Mara Lynch (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) led the way both offensively and defensively, finishing with nine kills and 12 digs. Avery Kelly (Butte, Mont. / SO) posted five blocks for the Saints.

Jenna Thorne led all players with 10 kills, while Natalya Slazynska finished with a game-high 21 assists for the Argos.

Carroll will shift focus towards a senior day matchup on Wednesday, when they host MSU-Northern at 7 p.m. at the Carroll College PE Center.
